Stuck at V4-V6?

You're not weak.
The missing piece is movement.

Thursday, May 28, 6:30PM : $75

A three-hour workshop with Chew and Lena.
8 climbers. 2 coaches.
One night to rework the moves you'be been muscling through.

You've already built strength. You climb regularly, you try hard, and you can pull through powerful moves. But if V4–V6 still feels inconsistent, confusing, or harder than it should – the missing piece is often movement efficiency.

This workshop is for intermediate climbers who want to stop relying on strength alone and start climbing with more control, precision, and intention.

This is not a "try harder" session. It's about understanding why a move works, why it falls apart, and how to make better decisions on the wall.

What you'll work on

Three hours focused on the movement skills that make problems feel smoother, more repeatable, and less energy-intensive – foot pressure, hip positioning, body tension, weight shifts, rotation, and timing.

• Use body tension to weight your feet instead of over-pulling with your arms.

• Find stronger body positions before committing to the next move.

• Climb with more control and waste less energy.

The goal is simple: help you use the strength you already have more effectively, solve problems faster, and keep progressing without grinding yourself down.

You'll spend a lot of time on the wall. Chew and Lena will watch, adjust, and give individual feedback. You'll leave with concepts you can take to the crag the next morning.

Your Coaches

Chew

Chew has coached multiple generations of climbers – beginners to elite athletes, across Singapore and Australia. His coaching is built around precision and tension: the small mechanical details that turn a forced move into an efficient one.

As Sandbox's Head Coach, he sets the tone for how training runs here.

His own climbing has shifted from chasing grades to refining the craft – and that's the same expectation he brings to his climbers: climb with intent, move with purpose.

Lena

Lena is a former competition climber, now a medical student – equal parts athlete and analyst. She knows the Sydney outdoor scene as well as anyone, with recent sends up to V9.

Her approach leans into injury prevention as hard as it leans into sending: she helps climbers not only get stronger, but stay climbing.

Together they coach the way climbers train at Sandbox: technical, intentional, and grounded in movement quality.

Who This Is For

You'll get the most out of this workshop if you're:

• Climbing grades V4–V6, and have been for a while
• Strong enough to do the moves, but not consistent on them
• Open to having your technique picked apart in a small group
• Tired of getting hurt every time you push grades

If you're newer than V4, this might not be the right fit just yet – drop us a line, and we'll point you at something that is.
